This is from back when I was WAY too generous with the ratings and I couldn't write a movie review if my life depended on it. Thank god I grew out of that stage and have a more solid rating system now. I can't believe how clueless I once was when it came to rating movies. Man was I pathetic... My grade for BOUNCE now is an 8/10 (B+). It has its flaws, but is still very well done. | | Static Link |

Although not a masterpiece, Bounce is certainly one of the best films of recent years. The plot, though slow-moving during some points, is, as a whole, interesting, with an even "mix" of Drama, Romance and Comedy. The performances delivered by both Affleck and Paltrow are superb, their on-screen chemistry undeniable. I laughed, I cried, I loved ths film!!! Bounce - 8/10 | | Static Link |

| Posted by: Mike at May 2, 2001, 1:58 pm | | Topic: BOUNCE 10/10 Forum: JoBlo | | I myself wouldn't mind seeing her nude, but this wasn't the movie for it. Actually, I haven't seen Shakespeare In Love but I've heard she shows her rack in that... Anyway, I don't know, the movie was slow but it still kept me interested... And I liked City Of Angels also but I wouldn't give it a 9/10, maybe a 7.5 or 8 of 10... I really like Meg Ryan though. Anyway, everyones taste is always somehow different than everyone else's. I liked BOUNCE, most of you guys didn't, oh well... But I'm sticking by my 10/10... Ok, maybe I'd change my mind to a 8.5/10, but it's too late now... I still really enjoyed it though... | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Bud_Fox at May 2, 2001, 12:57 pm | | Topic: BOUNCE 10/10 Forum: JoBlo | Mike I have to agree Bounce is a 10/10...... NOT! For me this movie was slow and boring and there was absolutely no T&A! When the fuck is Gwyneth going to grace us with that nice little symetrical rack of hers!!! I am just about done with this hair out of bottle blonde! Do one, just one naughty scene for the love of God live a little.
I would like to remark though Mike, I truly do admire your passion for the offbeat movies and the balls to say it even though you know most will disagree. Fuck I gave City of Angels a 9/10 | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Mike at May 1, 2001, 9:58 am | | Topic: BOUNCE 10/10 Forum: JoBlo | | I know, I know... I have a problem when it comes to rating movies... But out of all the movies of 2000 I only rated 5 with 10/10... I have to try and work on that. Most of the time I end up changing my mind on them anyway after seeing them a bunch of times, then I change the grades... What can I say, I'm not that hard to please... | | Static Link |
| Posted by: ban all music at May 1, 2001, 1:59 am | | Topic: BOUNCE 10/10 Forum: JoBlo | | Mike, don't you think you rate these movies a little too high sometimes? Nothing against you, but a lot of movies that you like get 9 and 10 ratings... 10/10 to me is a masterpiece. One that has either no or little flaws. It should/will be remembered for years as an awesome movie. 9/10 almost a masterpiece but not quite. 8/10 a really great movie. 7/10 good enough for me. You see where I'm going? It's just hard to believe that almost every movie you see gets either a rating of 8/10, 9/10, or 10/10. 7/10 and 6/10 are pretty good ratings too... | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Mike at April 30, 2001, 9:46 pm | | Topic: BOUNCE 10/10 Forum: JoBlo | | I agree that it did have it's flaws but it was a great effort and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it ever since I saw it a couple of weeks ago... Basically the good things about it make the bad things seem less important. The movie didn't move at a very fast pace and was a little slow, but I didn't really mind that. It might bug some people but it didn't bother me... I still highly enjoyed it... | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Terminator at April 30, 2001, 4:24 pm | | Topic: BOUNCE 10/10 Forum: JoBlo | WOW, did we watch the same Bounce? I'm not saying your wrong, Mike. Everybody has different tastes. I didn't like this movie very much, I would give it 5 outta 10, at the most.
The whole thing just didn't feel right to me and Ben Affleck seemed wooden in this one. The crying scenes looked so phony.
At least somebody enjoyed the filmaker's efforts. Cheers. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Mike at April 30, 2001, 4:03 pm | | Topic: BOUNCE 10/10 Forum: JoBlo | Bounce was truly a breath of fresh air compared to all those unrealistic, to good to be true romance movies out there. I mean don't get me wrong, it has it's sweet moments but it also has an edge to it. It's darker than most romance movies. It also has two of the best performances of the year (in my opinion). The plot is a good one and it keeps you interested until the very end. Ben Affleck stars as Buddy, an ad agent who's stuck in an airport during the holiday rush with Mimi (Natasha Henstridge), a beautiful blonde executive, and Greg, a play writer who's trying to get home to his wife Abby (Gwyneth Paltrow), and his two sons. Buddy decides to give Greg his ticket so he can fly home that same night and then Buddy can spend the night with Mimi. But when the plane that Gregs on crashes with no survivors, Buddy feels responsible and goes into a state of shock. After a year goes by Buddy decides to go and check up on Abby, Gregs widow, and her two sons. What Buddy didn't expect was to fall in love.
