"Scream" was even going to be called, at one point "Scary Movie," because its purpose was to wink at all the tropes that came before it in the slasher genre. And it succeeded. I never understood the Wayans' reasoning here. The best parodies are done when a genre becomes baroque, not later. Still...at least it was vaguely funny. Like you said - the second one was better, but seriously, that's not saying much. But a big flaw with the second is that, much like pretty much ever one of its successors, it forgets what its plot is about halfway through and just says 'fuck it, let's just do random shit and see what happens.' I prefer the second one, but the first one was still top notch. The Wayans were in top form. I was hoping the the other sequels would be good because they had some good people behind them, but those people forgot what funny was. I have no real hope for another one unless the Wayans were to come back. But sadly, they haven't done anything funny in a long time either, probably since the last Scary Movie. Even a bit with number 2, but there a was a bit more pointless humor in it which was the only thing carried over to the sequels. I liked the first 2 cause it continued a story with the main characters, but once they got rid of the Wayans the series completely changed. I'm NAY and I can't believe how absolutely horrible these spoofs are. Meet the Spartans was one of the worst films I've ever seen. Superhero Movie couldn't look more horrible. Scary Movie 3 and 4 were terrible. Fuck this movie and whoever is greenlighting these movies with 2 of the 6 writers of scary movie or whatever. The Hills Have Eyes 2. The Descent 3. Snakes on a Plane 4. Pulse 5. Silent Hill 6. Lady in the Water 7. Final Destination 3 8. Super-Man 9. The Omen the story is about cindy and brenda trying to find Damien's (the satan's spawn from 'The Omen') real parents, with Sophie monk (who was Andy in Date movie) is playing as Cindy's evil twin, The movie is due out on October 18th, 2008 So I am excited that they are spoofing The Descent and Silent Hill being as they are my top favs from 2006. They did Snakes on a Plane already so i cant see them repeating that but. I am guessing that they are looking for the "omen" child in a spoof town of Silent Hill where they end up in a cave and thats where the descent comes into play I have no clue but i suppose i will go see it | | Static Link |
