("There's such a thing! Surely you jest!") I watched Blazing Saddles last night. It saddened me once again that movies such a "Disaster Movie" are being commonly associated with "spoofs" and that leads to the genre being shit on. | | Static Link |

Do your part, anyone around you that is thinking of seeing this, hit them in the head with a subtle but effective baton. Every time they mention or make any movements to go see it. Or brainwash them Clockwork Orange-style. | | Static Link |

Have it be a hard hitting drama of human emotion. | | Static Link |

It was released in 1980, it was called Airplane!, and it was actually funny. These Movie movies have all the potential in the world to be funny. There's nothing I like better than a good intelligent satire of popular culture, and if that's what these movies were, then I wouldn't mind them at all. But Seltzer and Freidberg are subscribers of the "Hey, remember this?" school of comedy wherein "reference = funny", and no further effort needs to go into the script than that. That's the main thing that hocks me off about these movies - they could be a lot funnier if the people who made them actually gave a damn. Putting aside the fact that this is the laziest spoof of disaster movies I've ever seen (apparently, a meteor is headed for Earth and threatens the lives of a bunch of movie characters from the 2007-2008 season), the least they could do is actually analyze what they're parodying. For instance, the opening shot where Iron Man gets crushed by a cow - tha... | | Read Entire Entry |

Or if there is a god he hates us as a human race, he takes the amazingly talented Heath Ledger, Charlton Heston, and Stan Winston in just a short amount of time but leaves these two alive and with the financial means to make what is considered in their eyes a "movie". I mean christ at least Uwe Boll movies are mildly entertaining in their badness but these assholes can't even do that! I think the country should unite go to these two guys' house hang them, light them on fire and throw turds and them until they are dead. | | Static Link |

They parody "epic movies" but that whole movie just parodies Britney Spears, Borat, Nacho Libre, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Cribs, etc. This one's supposed to parody disaster movies (when was the last time a disaster movie even came out) but all they're showing is Juno, Hancock, Paris Hilton, and Zohan.
