From the looks of Get Smart, it might end up being another Pink Panther disaster. Then again, it might not. Hard to say just yet.

Well, Speed Racer is officially the first bomb of the summer. My prediction for the next bomb of the summer is... Well, now that I think of it, not much coming out looks like it is going to bomb. Postal will for sure, but I'm not sure how wide that is going on the 23rd. Wanted would be next on the list, but it could end up doing alright. Narnia, Indy, The Strangers, Sex and the City, Kung Fu Panda, Zohan, The Hulk, The Happening, Get Smart, The Love Guru, and Wall-E (big releases in May and June) should all be quite successful. That doesn't mean that something like The Strangers will go and make $100 million domestically, but it should be successful in terms of its budget and such. I think the marketing for The Strangers has been too good for it not to do pretty well. I've seen the preview at numerous high grossing movies, there are TV spots galore on plenty of popular channels, and those previews and spots are making it look pretty damn good. Obviously with Indy in the way of things, it will be tough, but w...

I disagree completely. I think it looks like 100% great popcorn entertainment. Great action scenes featuring three very talented performers, a very interesting premise, and a really cool bending bullet spin on things. Sign me up!

The action looks like it's going to suck. The dialogue sounds so bad that not even the great Morgan Freeman is able to make it sound good and it just looks painfully generic and incredibly stupid in every way. It looks dumb but not fun to me. All of the trailers I've seen for the movie make it look unintentionally hilarious. Mr. & Mrs. Smith wasn't a great IMO, however it's a friggin' masterpiece compared to how Wanted looks.

Speed Racer looks like a crappy flick. How old would you be today if you watched that cartoon when you were younger? I'm guessing you'd be mid 20's and I don't see anyone older than 13 seeing that movie. I think this movie will flop in the United States. Maybe it will break even, but that is by no means a successful movie. Horrible looking, just dreadful.

The Happening i think will have a poor box office return because Mark Walhberg doesn't really draw many people in and i think people are tired of M Night Shyamalans type of movies. I don't think the Hulk will be a massive flop but it won't come off as well as Iron Man, Indy 4 etc. Hellboy 2 i imagine will get a modest return but be big on when it comes out on dvd.

It looks pretty stupid actually. Morgan Freeman is a living legend and pretty much a god (he did play him afterall twice ). I'll see him in just about anything. But this looks like it's him slumming it. Angelina Jolie too for that matter. And after great performances in The Last King of Scotland and Atonement, I'm disappointed in James MacAvoy that this is what he chooses for his first big action blockbuster type flick.

I know you guys love them but I think that The Incredible Hulk and Hellboy 2 will bomb. The Incredible Hulk for the obvious reason of how the first one made out.. and how the Hulk doesn't translate too well on screen. I just don't see the Hulk carrying a film franchise to the point that people need to go out and spend their hard earned dough on this movie. It looks OK at best. Hellboy 2 I think for the same thing. Most people have no idea who Hellboy is, and their lack of any "big" names really hurts them. I don't know how well the first one performed, and I know that the word has gotten better since then, but I still can't picture it doing anything close to massive. I dunno.. I guess we shall see.

Quote: There is every reason for Warner Bros. to be concerned about the Wachowski Brothers’s treatment of the classic cartoon Speed Racer. I am hearing that Un-Aided Awareness is at only 5 percent, though it has a Total Aware of 77 percent. Definite Interest, however, is at a mere 29 percent, and that could spell trouble. That's less interest, for example, than has already been generated by the Cameron Diaz/Ashton Kutcher picture What Happens in Vegas (Fox), which opens on the same day. Speed Racer is showing strength with the 25 Plus crowd — people who grew up watching the original show — but it's struggling to get traction with Under 25s. Warner Bros. must be hoping that this picture will skew very young and will play like a family film, luring parents to bring their children. Preteens are never fully represented in industry tracking, but, even so, this is a big, very expensive blockbuster. Unless it is connects more strongly with Males Under 25, it could turn into a huge disappointment....

Thank you. I'm glad that I'm not the only one here that thought both of those movies were shit. Two of the worst movies I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. And I'm willing to bet that Night will continue his trail of celluloid shit with this new film. As for potential flops. I have to say Hulk, even though it looks like alot of green fun. Speed Racer looks beyond dumb, but it will make money, the same as Meet The Spartans did. Mummy 3 will do ok, Wanted will do ok, even though dumb bitch bag, Jolie is in it. Ironman will do very good, as will Indy 4. Hellboy will rake in suckers money. lol. Hancock should do well considering I Am Legend did very well. So people will if nothing else, just see it for Smith. And lastly, TDK will kickass... Fuck the rest.

I don't think Speed Racer looks that bad. It will do okay. Definately not number 1 movie of the Summer, but will do around 135, I think. Get Smart and The Love Guru look like two movie that look like flops to me. I don't think that many young people will care about Maxwell Smart and The Love Guru really looks awful. The new X-Files movie will probably underperform. It's been 6 or 7 years since the show has been on and I think people have forgotten about it. Journey 3-D is another one that could possibly be a flop, it looks pretty expensive.
