Forum: JoBlo | | Man, those alternitive endings were horrendus. Also, my biggest holy shit moment was when they leave the helicopter, then Hud quickly pans the camera over to the monster, and it lingers, then the fucker jumps the camera, and kills Hud. I was wide eyed for the rest of the movie. That shit scared me so bad. I also loved how the monster played "bowling" with the statue of liberty's head. lol. Just a really great movie. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | First time caller, long time listener... I love this flick... almost "fan boy" love... almost. I didn't really think much from all the hype, and figured "Meh, I'll check it out." So I downloaded a decent cam, watched it, and LOVED it. Do I feel bad about downloading? Fuck no... I never do, but I've since made up for it, by seeing it at the theaters, and buying 2 copies of the DVD... and the Blu-Ray to come. So far, best movie of '08. The only thing that "bothered" me about the camera work, was sometimes it felt a little un-natural. When Hud would pan between people talking, sometimes it came off like, "I've gotta make sure I hit the dialogue cues.", but other than that... me likey. But hey, look at my fave flicks! Now, I'm wishing I had pre-ordered a Clover monster maquette. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | I was really pleasantly surprised as well. In the end, I think a lot of the viral stuff worked against them a bit, in that it overly hyped it up as being some sort of elaborate "surprise" film when, in reality, it was just a monster movie (nothing wrong with that). For some reason, I've always loved and been drawn to films that use New York prominently and, indeed, in some cases as a character. This is another of those movies, and they did a great job with that I thought. Haven't seen it on DVD though. Wonder how it translates onto a small screen. ------------ At the Box Office | | Static Link |

I, myself, didn't have much of a problem with naseua, so I wouldn't know for sure. However, I would venture a guess and say it might be easier to watch on a smaller screen. And while the theater experience is truly amazing, you'll still enjoy it just as much on any screen. | | Static Link |

We couldn't get into it at all because of those people, etc etc...we haven't seen a movie in a theatre since then actually. I will pick this up because did like what I see, but the mood was ruined. My only regret is that I can't see it with "fresh eyes". I also wish I had a big screen tv to go with it, but for now I'll take what I can get. Between the images spinning outside the helicopter, the horrified faces of the characters, the fucking noises the helicopter makes (that "BEEP BEEP BEEP!") and most of all, the characters' screams. Forum: JoBlo | | Well remember "Cloverfield" isn't a normal movie, and it calls for an abnormal sequel. We're not going to see "Rob Strikes Back" here, it's sure to be something very unique. Besides, there's SO much story in this universe. You could make it about Tagruato's corruptness, Slusho, the activist group Teddy joined, even an "Apollo 13" like part of the story with the satellite, it can literally go anywhere. | | Static Link |

Forum: JoBlo | | Interestingly, I want to Blockbuster last night to exchange 'Knocked Up', saw the enormouse green flush in the back corner of Blockbuster, and decided to give 'Cloverfield' it's 84 minutes (which includes a strenuous 10 1/2 minutes of credits...nearly 13% of the length of the whole movie). HOLY @#$@. I too found myself watching it in the deep blackness of my room, entirely alone. A plethora of "Hot Damn!", "What the fucks", and various forms of "Holy [this]" and "OH my [that]". It wouldn't make my top ten, but I've probably never been more legitimately shocked and/or disturbed (in a good way) by a film than 'Cloverfield', at least since I can remember. In the scenes immediately following their venture to the roof (i.e.- Lady Liberty's head flying, explosions, chaotic masses of people running, etc.), I started asking myself what I would hypothetically do, and had to consequently convince myself that it's a damn monster film and shit like this actually doesn't happen.
