I'm not embarrassed to say that I have seen neither The Godfather or Citizen Kane, yet. Seriously... Oh, and if you have seen Star Wars, how many times have you seen it. There, just incase there really is noone here who has NOT seen Star Wars. I've seen it no less than 26 times. How the hell do I know this? The fact is that today's youth doesn't give a shit about Star Wars, but the older generation trying to recapture the magic of their own youth does. Plenty of kids love Star Wars. I have a 10 year old cousin - she went through a big star wars thing. Her friends all loved Star Wars. We aren't talking about something that hasn't been in movie theaters since 1983 - all three movies were re-released in theaters in 1997 - then episode 1 1999, episode 2 2002 RoTS 2005. | | Static Link |

Now Variety is reporting that United Statesers can expect the same, with Star Wars: The Clone Wars hitting theaters on August 15th. What's really historic about this is that Clone Wars will be the first Star Wars theatrical release that isn't distributed by Fox. Warner Bros will be putting it out, and the series will then air on the Cartoon Network and TNT. Clone Wars will take place between Episodes II and III, before Anakin Skywalker became a husky voiced black man. As far as worrying about being a geek, not my concern. I have no predetermined problem with sci-fi. I am just very bored by the genre in general. In both of my Literature in Cinema classes, Star Wars was the test case for the differences between sci-fi and fantasy. An entire book was written about why Star Wars isn't sci-fi. And from any lit class I've had to take, SW screams fantasy, not sci-fi. It has many sci-fi elements, but all works of fiction have genre crossing. Being set in space is not the definition of sci-fi and midieval wizards and swords are not the definition of fantasy (and Star Wars has both of those, btw, just not midieval). I will say, one of the things my first professor discussed was that, more often than not, sci-fi fans consider Star Wars sci-fi, unless they hate it, and fantasy fans consider Star Wars fantasy, unless they hate it. Doesn't explain Josh, but that does explain me and Into. | | Static Link |

I think George Lucas has been too secluded from the real film audience all the way out in Skywalker Ranch. Messy editing, cinematography was less than average, acting was ok, but under-par in parts, the music was very good again, and the story was interesting, but dealt in an un-interesting manner. 6/10. As escapist pop corn fun, Star Wars is alright, but Lucas wouldn't know a good story if he fell over it.
