Topic: THE HAPPENING TRAILER!!! Forum: JoBlo
Well, judging a film by its trailer is the entire point of them releasing a trailer. I don't know why else they would release a trailer for a film without the main reason being they want to garner curiosity in the film, so your argument doesn't really make sense. Didn't everybody judge Meet the Spartans by the trailer? Hell, even by the poster? A lot of people were up in arms about Heath Ledger's Joker until they saw the trailer and realized what he was going for with his performance. So are we all treating the Dark Knight unfairly because we're not allowed to form an opinion from the trailer? It just seems like your rule is okay when the trailer excites the viewer, but if it doesn't than you're being close minded and you want the movie to fail.

What an outrageous tease!!! i was saying in my min, "the dark knight trailer, the dark knight trailer..." during previews. Second trailer: i see the black and white WB logo and joy runs through my entire body. But I quickly realize there is a problem, it's the old trailer!!! And then, to pour salt in the wound, I get the Indiana jones trailer, but it's the old one too! O well, at least the movie was good. I thought the end could have had a little more, but other than that no complaints. It was a really "funvee" movie. Wow, that last sentence was cheesy.

Will delve into the actual movie upon waking but I will leave tonight with one thing: That WATCHMEN trailer is probably the best trailer I have ever seen. It tops every single TDK trailer.

The trailer highlights a bunch of parts that makes it look good. The Machine Girl did the same thing, and sadly the trailer was a lot more exciting than the actual movie. If they posted certain scenes from the movie, some of you might think twice about it. Quote: That quote should be featured on the DVD. Seriously, those were my exact thoughts when watching that trailer. Yeah, but Bishop admits to copying Tarantino too and is proud of it. You see the safe deposit box in the trailer? Think back to Pulp Fiction with the briefcase. Yep, that's where he said he got the idea from.

Great trailer. Actually made me laugh out loud, while most comedy trailers make me cringe. Went in a completely different direction in the second half of the trailer than I thought it would. Looks like a fucking insanely awesome movie. I totally see what you're saying about the ESOTSM trailer. When it says "This summer" in this trailer, the music reminds me of the opening riffs of ELO - Mr Blue Sky in that one. I don't know if I anticipate it more than TDK, but it's up there near the top of my list.

There WILL be a new Dark Knight trailer attached to this. There will also be a new Hulk trailer, possibly a new Indiana Jones trailer, and a trailer for The Spirit. At least those are the ones that came on the hard drive, it depends on your theater to pick which ones they show.

I think this movie will do fairly well as long as the marketing keeps up the way it's going with the teaser. A. The trailer alone indicates it's being extremely faithful to the graphic novel, which will put any self-respecting comic book fan in the seats come it's opening weekend. B. The trailer indicates it's from the director of 300, which for the general public, is a damn fine way to ensure they're going to like it. It'll put quite a few butts in seats. C. This is just a teaser trailer. It's teasing. When a full trailer comes out, the story will come out for those unfamiliar with it as well.

Not sure where to post this but I have on my computer a Dolby Digital trailer (that starts with some drops over a liquid surface to let the words Dolby Digital to appear briefly to left again the liquid surface) and a dts trailer (shows the strings of a piano from inside the instrument while starting to being played, but just a few notes) on *.vob format. I believe I took those from the Der Untergang (The Downfall, see the trailer on ML FE) movie DVD. Dolby Digital *.vob trailer - 5 MB dts *.vob trailer - 10 MB Posted because someone could find this interesting or useful...

I hate the idiots who decided that every web trailer had to be in only HD formats. Whats wrong with good old large, medium, small? You need a powerhouse computer just to view a damn movie trailer, shit HD sucks. Anyway, I got through half of the trailer, right before the Bat logo explodes, then its just audio for me. After all the hype for the trailer and rumors of different trailers, this is phenomenally disappointing, mostly just voice overs, no glimpses of anything. Not that the movie will be bad, but god, this doesnt tease anything. It's just frustrating that I've worked so hard to view it (slow ass internet, putting up with stupid HD) and there is really nothing to it.

I saw the trailer for this for the second time at the movies last night, and almost no one laughed at one part of the trailer. I actually had a little trouble laughing during my second viewing. They really need to get a better and funnier trailer out, because audiences are not digging what they've seen so far. I still think it's going to be great, and the R rating is holding the trailers back from being golden, but I'd really like to see this do well at the BO, and if it's going to, they've got to make a better trailer. It'd be a shame to see this end up like Walk Hard. A great and hilarious film that gets lost in the shadows because its trailer wasn't very good.

Josh just put up Vin Diesel's new movie, Babylon A.D.'s trailer at CB: http://www.filmhobbit.com/new/Babylo...iler-8700.html I agree with Josh about the trailer. It's very much a "Vin Diesel" kinda of trailer/movie. And I also think that it looks like Behind Enemy Lines meets The Island meets xXx. That's not a bad thing, just very derivative. But visually it looks fun, I guess. Fafhrd

Some stuff I've done recently. Balto - Fan Trailer - As it sounds. A trailer for the animated movie "Balto". Balto 2: Wolf Quest - Fan Trailer - Same thing. The Fountain - Fan Trailer - Fan trailer for "The Fountain" trying to make it look more like the movie's actual plot and less misleading. Balto Blood Diamond - A weird mix that has the audio of the "Blood Diamond" trailer with footage from "Balto". Basically an overdub like the one I did with "The Lion King" and "The Fountain". And yes, I'm learning by editing trailers.

Personally I think that trailer is kind of poorly put together (does it really need to be over the normal trailer length of 2:30 for what amounts to as many shots as they could fit in of the protests?) and from the trailer, the writing seems a little iffy. For a trailer that's extra long, you'd think they'd try to hook you on the characters but I just felt like there were the most random shots of characters, random shots of protest, and that was the entire trailer. On the other hand, I dig the handheld vibe though of some of the stuff there...

I watched the Crappy camera-phone video and regretted it. Somebody already mentioned they'd like to go in fresh and i agree completely. So i am ignoring all further Batman hype until the movie comes out, it's going to be a bit of a siege i know, but i think i can hold out. Movie trailers of late have developed a horrible precedent of giving away all the best cinematic moments before people get to see the complete film. The Simpsons was one of the absolute worst offenders, the trailer spoiled almost all the best moments of the movie, but Iron Man too wasted some of its best scenes in the trailer. I guess who cares about the movie when the trailer has already gotten you to cough up money for a cinema seat?

The trailer for Dark City is truly one of the best genre trailers of recent memory. Delightfully revealing without giving anything away. I saw this trailer many months before the film came out and then never heard anything else about the movie, ever. I think if they would have continued advertising along these lines instead of panicking and dropping all marketing for the film, it would have done much, much better business. That trailer was a good first step, but then they stopped walking.

I've said this about the Wall-e teaser, and now it's applicable to the new trailer as well: Never before has a 2-minute movie TRAILER affected me so emotionally as the Wall-E trailers have. Pixar have been delivering better and better work as the years go by, but this looks like their magnum opus, like it could truly take the cake. The fucking TRAILER gets my heart racing and tears in my eyes, I can only imagine what the full-length movie will do. It also looks hilarious and the animation looks fucking DIVINE, and I mean literally GODLY. Man I can't even express my excitement for this.

At least some red band trailers try to keep the flow of the original ones, this one seemed too excited to show all the goods. The trailer is amazing, but I'm not quite ready to shit my pants over it. The trailer doesn't reveal that much about the actual movie (which I guess is a good thing compared to most trailers these days) and David Fincher has made some great films, but he himself is not good enough to carry a film on his own. Maybe it's just that I hadn't even heard of the film prior to seeing the trailer.
