I dig what you're saying, Irene, and damn, if you didn't go all the way with that one, eh?!? Good shite. I too love "movie geekie" things like that. I started spotting all the 8s and 2s the second time that I watched the movie and it was just a cool thing to watch for. Remember the scene of the game show, where there's actually some dude in the crowd holding a John 8:2 sign or something? Pretty cool. And if you listen to any of P.T.'s commentary tracks, you'll quickly come to notice that he's a BIGGER movie geek than any of us, so I'm sure it was all intentional, as in-jokes and such (like Tarantino tossing that ORANGE balloon into one of his scenes in RESERVOIR DOGS). Oh and by the way, I'm also in love with this movie's style, soundtrack, acting, specific scenes (the one with Reilly in the black lady's apartment is to die for!), magic, directing and ending. But I also see how it's DEFINITELY not for everyone. Didn't writer/director Kevin Smith (CLERKS, CHASING AMY, DOGMA, etc...) say that he thought that this film was one of the most "pretentious" things that he'd ever seen? And I LOVE Kevin Smith's stuff, too!! Oh well.....love that discussion...
