Ameican Beauty is a good film, but not a great film, I've alwasys considered The Insider too be the superior film. While watching AB I couldn't help but get that soap opera type of feeling, during The Insider I got a documentary type of feeling and in my mind a documentary is better then a soap opera. The Insider: ***** (My #1 choice of 1999) American Beauty: *** (my #5 choice of 1999) Note: I know the film is far too light too be considered a soap opera movie, but during the more dramatic scenes that's the feeling I got.
