I laughed my ass off and was never bored, not even once. The gags were great and most of them worked, I can't think of any off the top of my head that failed. I thought the scene with Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate in the car with the biker guy driving by was hilarious. I knew that was going to happen because I saw it in the trailer but the actual scene was even funnier. I couldn't stop laughing during that part. Cameron and Christina worked really well together and had great chemistry. They were a blast to watch. I've always loved the very charming Cameron Diaz, she has a killer smile that always manages to make me smile too. Cameron is great in comedies, she's a lot of fun to watch. I've also always loved Christina Applegate and it's nice to see her making a comeback. Just Visiting bombed at the Box Office, even though I found it surprisingly pretty funny. Thankfully that wasn't the last we'd see of Christina. I thought she shined in The Sweetest Thing. It's nice to see her on the big screen again and I hope she's here to stay. I've heard people complain about the romance angle of the movie and how it wasn't believable, but I disagree. It's not meant to be the next WHEN HARRY MET SALLY (10/10), it's just a non-serious "FUN" flick. Besides, I'm sure pretty much everyone can relate to meeting someone, clicking immediately, having a great conversation, but not doing anything about it and then regretting it. It's happened to me a million times. And then in most cases you never see them again and always regret not doing anything about it, and you spend your whole life wondering what might have been. So the situation Cameron gets herself in is not that unrealistic. Plus, for this kind of movie I thought Cameron Diaz and Thomas Jane had good chemistry. The Sweetest Thing isn't a brilliant comedy, but I had a BLAST watching it and I give it major credit for keeping me entertained the whole way through. If you aren't offended by gross out humor and want to have some brainless fun then I highly recommend The Sweetest Thing. It's at least worth a rental. I plan on buying the DVD. Grade: 7/10 or B or ***1/2 of ***** |
