This will probably join The Star Wars Trilogy, Casablanca, The Shawshank Redemption, and Pulp Fiction as being one of the most overrated films of all time. First off, Tobey Maguire just didn't pull off Peter Parker. I'm sorry, but I didn't buy him at all. Sam Raimi's spectacular directing chops were put to waste by a slew of FX men who seemed to be using the Paint program in Windows 95. And, actually, the credits WERE the best part, with the score really highlighting the most exciting part of the film for me, which was seeing that Sam Raimi directed it. The two most disgusting scenes were as follows: A) Kirsten Dunst is apprehended by men looking to rape her. Brave Spider-Man comes in to save the day. Cue an upside down makeout with Dunst's shirt soaking through so you can see her breasts. Hmm, let's look at the ugliest side of sex, then immediately glorify it once Spider-Man shows up. B) Spider-Man lands on a flagpole and poses as the American Flag ripples in the background. Jingo Bells, Jingo Bells, Jingo all the way!! The only positive aspect of this movie is that Bruce Campbell shows up in a bit part, making smile and forget for a second that the film was crap. The worst film of 2002, F.
