Only demons should fear me... and you're not a demon are you? Frailty is one of the most original horror movies I have seen in quite some time. There is no self-refreential dialogue, there's no masked psycho killing pretty teens and there's no stupid camp jumping out around every corner. It's a near perfect masterpeice with great acting, directing and a twist-filled screenplay. Mathew McConaughey and Bill Paxton give excellent performances. The kid you played Fenton, Matthew O'Leary was also good. The kid I had a problem with would be Jeremy Sumpter who played Adam. Although his performance seemed to get better as the movie went on, he still bothered me a bit. That's my only complaint in the acting department, everyone else was solid. Bill Paxton also does a great job behind the camera. He creates a dark and moody atmosphere that holds you until the end credits. He keeps the pace tight and the movie never drags. He also tosses some very cool images our way, I loved the shot with the light shining down on the axe. Great job! Frailty is defintley not a movie for everyone. Some folks will be turned off by the subject matter and the disturbing content. I must note though, hardly any blood is shed onscreen. Besides one particularly brutal murder most of the violence is left to imagination. If movies like Urban Legends: Final Cut or 13 Ghosts are your thang I suggest you pass on Frailty as it is alot more mature and though-provoking then most horror flicks. I highly recommend it with a score of 9.5/10.
