I think you were a wee-bit harsh on The Time Machine. It has its problems, mainly it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief, but overall, I thought it was a pretty good nacho-munchin' movie. The special effects were pretty nifty, and I thought Guy Pearce did a good job as the scientist. The time-travelling sequences were amazing, and Samantha Mumba was looking good in her almost-but-not-quite-see-through shirt. There are some problems though. **Minor spoilers** For instance, it always seemed rather convenient that, no matter what time he stopped in, there was always just enough room for his time machine to fit. He also seemed to give up rather easily on the whole 'going back in time to save his girlfriend' plan after just one failure. Plus it's amazing how the English language managed to survive 800,000 years in the future(but hey I guess it's for the audience). All of these show how you really need to boost your suspension of disbelief while watching this movie. Hmm, my problems list is getting rather big... Well, overall, I was entertained. It's definitely not ground-breaking, but it's not that bad.
6/10 Also, he should really look into putting up some padding in the time machine. He seems to knock himself silly fairly often with his own machine. [This message has been edited by dmdubie (edited 03-08-2002).]
