I wasn't that interested in it, but it didn't look like something that would be torture to sit through either. Since there was nothing else to rent, I rented it, and I'm kind of glad I did. Things ended up working out for the best. Agent Cody Banks turned out to be an entertaining family comedy that I might not have even gotten around to seeing if it wouldn't have been for the video store not having what I really wanted to rent. I thought Frankie Muniz was enjoyable here. But the real surprise for me was Hilary Duff. I actually ended up liking her in this movie, and I don't even like her. I personally have found her really annoying recently. But now I don't dislike her as much, and I actually kind of want to see The Lizzie McGuire Movie now, which I didn't really want to before, since I didn't like her or the show. This movie surprised me. A lot of family movies annoy me and make me roll my eyes, but this one didn't. Some parts were a little cheesy, but I've seen much worse in family movies. Maybe I was just too entertained by this one to be annoyed. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I certainly enjoyed it more than Spy Kids (6/10 or C+). I even want to see the Cody Banks sequel, and am kind of glad they are doing another. I highly doubt I'll see it in theaters, since most family movies I stay clear of in theaters, but I will definitely check it out on video. Grade: 7/10 (B-) |
