| Posted by: ilovemovies at February 21, 2003, 2:55 am | | Topic: Reviews: Trapped Forum: JoBlo | | Trapped rated R *** (out of ****) 7.5 out of 10 Grade: B+ Directed by Luis Mandoki Starring: Charlize Theron, Courtney Love, Stuart Townsend, Kevin Bacon, Dekota Fanning and Pruit Taylor Vince Trapped is a gripping thriller about an ingenius kidnapping attempt by keeping the mother and father separated thus making it more panicky. Ofcoarse, things don't go as planned. First there are unforseeable events such as the fact that the little girl is asthmatic and they didn't know it. That causes some problems. Then things really start to unravel when mother and father start gaing some controll. The performances are solid. Theron, Bacon, Townsend and Love aren't exactly challanged by their roles but they are solid. The acting standout is young Dekota Fanning who is remarkable as the asthmatic child. She could be a real star. The movie looks and feels like it was shot hand held so the direction is a little herky jerky and takes some time getting use to but the moving around calms down after awhile. The movie moves at a fast paced rarely giving the audience a time to breathe and it all leads up to an exciting slambang terrifically thrilling climax on a freeway. Hold on to your seats but with this movie, you'll need to. |
