I didn't really care for it as much as the first one. Maybe it might be because I was sitting in a jam-packed theatre at the front all the way to the side. So that I might have accounted for that. Don't get me wrong the action sequences were definitely ones for the books. The effects were well crafted, and the soundtrack fit very well with the film. I then watched it a second time, when it hit DVD, and then a third and then a fourth etc. This is one of those movies that grows on you the more you watch it, and it just keeps getting better and better. I now absolutely love this movie. Plot: Blade is forced to join sides with his immortal enemies; the vampires, when he finds out that there is a new breed of vampire called 'reapers,' roaming the streets, infecting and killing both vampires and humans. They're pretty much impossible to kill. Nothing works on them so it looks like Blade is in for some serious overtime. Blade is teamed up with the 'Bloodpack,' a team of vampires who were originally put together to hunt down and kill Blade himself. I liked the storyline, except I didn't much care for the main villain Nomak, he wasn't as bad ass as Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) in the first Blade. They could have done a better job with him I think. But the movie flowed very nicely with just a few minor glitches and continuity errors. But ones you're willing to forgive. And the action sequences were well choreographed. I liked the characters of the Bloodpack they were all pretty hardcore. Too bad they didn't use more of Snowman (Donnie Yen). Donnie Yen is the kick ass martial artist in Iron Monkey. He had a pretty small role in the film which is too bad, they could have done a lot with him. They should have at least had him go out with a bang. Really not much to say about this movie. Except that it's a very entertaining popcorn action flick that'll entertain you with it's creative death sequences of vampires getting offed. And high end gore and violence. Acting could be better, but who watches these films based on acting caliber?? I must admit though, some of the CGI in the movie were almost laughable. You could tell that it was definitely done on computer. It looked animated. And I also thought the ending was kind of cheesy. They tried to make it so dramatic and lovey-dovey, but it turns out to be hilarious and almost pathetic. Blade 2 was a very entertaining movie but it did not exceed its predescessor, but it does come very very close. But if you're a fan of vampire action movies this is one of the better ones. I give it a 8/10 Oh yeah hot newcomer Leonor Varela (Nyssa) is very very easy on the eyes as well in this movie. She looks nice in leather. Probably looks just as good in lace too. |
