Blade 2 8/10
The sequel to the surprise hit Blade easily defines the term "Kicking your ass into next week." It has the elements of a really good popcorn flick: action, nice one-liners, more action, some hot-looking women (well, with a few exceptions), and lots of more action. With some fast and inventive camera work by Guilermo Del Toro, it defines ass-kicking fights. Snipes seems to be having nothing but fun in a role he owns now. Kris Kristopherson is perfectly fine in his owned role as Whistler (and just don't look into how he returns, just be glad he's back) and Ron Perlman is sweet as the head Bloodpack vampire. The one-upping between him and Blade is classic. Add to that, the ending is kick ass, (which, coincidently, is similar to a scene in the Crow: City of Angels, which David Goyer also scripted). |
