The story is better, the villains are cooler, and the action sequences are fan-freaking-tastic. If just one of the swordfight scenes that appear in Blade II were in Highlander: Endgame - Highlander would have been a much better movie. The action is what drives this movie. The fights between the good guys (Blade, Whistler), and the bad guys (vampires), or the other bad guys (the super vampires) are nonstop and are throughout the movie until the end. There are subplots like Whistler's return, Blade's new sidekick being a little odd, a love thing going on between Blade and the hot vampire, and the conflict between Blade and the vampires he's joined with to fight this new breed of super vampires. Kick ass all the way. (Another point to add is that the movie has some great one-liners.) Now obviously this movie isn't for everyone; I wouldn't recommend it to too many couples going out on their first date. Take a coupla buddies who aren't afraid of the dark or a few people getting their blood sucked out by a coupla vampires. This movie is another great example of a popcorn movie. It sets out to entertain those people that enjoy great action, colorful characters, and other stuff like that. Don't expect a flick that tries fulfill your need for drama, love, or Academy Award nominations. This movie is kick ass, little else. The movie is definitely better than the original. Bring on a sequel. 8/10 |
