Enough stars J to tha Lo as Slim, a beautiful woman who seemed to have it all; a beautiful daughter, all the finer things in life, and an adoring husband. However her life gets turned upside down when she discovers that her husband is cheating on her, and when she confronts him, he beats her. The rest of the film is pretty self-explanatory. Firstly, Enough is pure entertainment. It wasn't made to win Academy Awards or even to prove a point about domestic abuse, it is simply a story of revenge and survival. The Positives: J.Lo is perfect as Slim. She gives it her all and her performance is well done. Tessa Allen as her little "Tootse" is friggin' cute as hell and perfect. I enjoyed the entire revenge aspect of the film. Although it is cliched, I must say that I was on the edge of my seat for most of the film, and even cheered win J.Lo was kicking the crap out of her creepazoid hubby Billy Campbell. The Negatives: Billy Campbell who is a damn good actor, especially on the now canned Once and Again is wasted here. His role is so poorly written and all he does is stand there and act creepy rather than menacing. There were also plot holes the size of the Grand Canyon, but anywho, it is a movie, nothing else. All in all, Enough is a suspenseful flick. The writing although weak at the first gets better as the film rolls along (except Billy Campbell's terrible dialogue) and the direction is pretty well done as well. I enjoyed those little "chapters" for different sections of the film. J.Lo and Tessa Allen truly make the film memorable IMO. On an entertainment level, Enough gets an 8/10 from me. Take the film for what it is, ENTERTAINMENT! Oh by the way, I love the line in the film when Slim calls her hubby on his cell, and he thinks it's one of his "flings" and says "Hey my croissant" and Slim responds, "Wrong, it's your loaf of bread". |
