Topic: Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines Forum: JoBlo

I just completed my second viewing of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and have a different outlook on the film now. After my first viewing I was left very disappointed. The movie just didn't really do anything for me. There was nothing new brought to the table as everything just felt like a rehash of the first two movies. However, upon viewing the film again I found a lot to like. Sure it's unoriginal. Sure, it lacks the passion and hard-edged nature of Cameron's films, but it's still a damn fun film. The action sequences are exciting, the T-X is somewhat cool though not breathtaking, it's good to see Arnold back in the leather and shades and the ending was surprisingly downbeat. Kudos also go to Nick Stahl for making me believe he really was John Connor. This is easily the worst of the series, but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. It just has very stiff competition as the first two are two of my favorite movies ever. I think the series should end here though. If they decided to make a fourth it would just be another retread. We already know the story. John Connor becomes the leader of the resistance. Why do we need to see it when we already know it? That's just my opinion. All in all, this was one of the better movies of 2003. It's leagues above The Matrix Reloaded which tried to hard to be something it wasn't. At least T3 knew what it was and didn't strain for unreachable goals. It was content to be a fun, exciting, slam-bang action movie. What more could you ask for. I give it an 8/10... Where I'm coming from: The Terminator - 9/10 Terminator 2: Judgment Day - 10/10 The Matrix Reloaded - 5/10
