Adam Sandler has never been a critical darling and I think most of the bad reviews were already bad reviews before anyone even stepped into the theatre. That's just the way it goes with actors/actresses who aren't trying to make a lot of gobledeegook, they get pounded on much the same way that Britney Spears gets pounded for make fun music. It's fun, harmless and I happen to like it. It was nice to see Adam Sandler on Mach 5 instead of Mach 5, he was actually pretty good in toned-down mode. I thought Winona Ryder did a lovely job even though her character did flip-flop a little unconvincingly which was my only big problem with the flick. That wasn't her fault though. Other than that, the cameos were cute and all the actors did a good job with their respective roles. If you're looking for something a little sentimental and uplifting, stop right here. Did I mention laughing? [This message has been edited by Slarknaked (edited 06-29-2002).] |
