Normally, I hate sequels, because they're never as good as the first installment. However, X2 breaks the rules and kicks butt. I have to say that this movie is better than the first. Yes, X2 also has a few problems: It was ridiculous that the secret service's first instinct was to try to take the President OUTSIDE during the attack on the White House. If the mutants could breach the White House, why couldn’t they do more damage outside? It was insanely easy to manipulate the Professor. I wanted to see more of a struggle, but instead he caved in after a few minutes. Disappointing! I thought that Cyclops was a sissy girly man who should run home to his momma. I'm glad he wasn't in the movie very much, because he annoyed me during every moment he had on the screen. Pyro boy annoyed me too, so I hope he kills himself by smoking in bed so I don't have to see him in X3. Too many things within the movie were spelled out before they happened, so the suspense was lost in a few scenes. I would have been great to see more use of power in special circumstances, but the mutant's powers were underutilized. May this was done to build up X3.....X8. Don't get me wrong; these minor problems did not spoil my time watching this flick. Wolverine was great and stole the show. Dr Jean Grey strutted her stuff. Mystique strutted her stuff in a different way. Nightcrawler was funny and was a nice addition to the "gang." Rouge, Storm, and Ice boy were so-so. If things progress this way, X3 should be the movie of the decade. I say......8.5/10. |
