| Posted by: quoth_the_raven at May 5, 2003, 2:46 pm | | Topic: Reviews: X-Men 2 Forum: JoBlo | | HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD wow. a great action film is the first thing to say. the action scenes in this are absolutely superb....watching Wolverine and Deathstrike get it on, claws all over the place...it was a beautiful moment. watching Nightcrawler breaking down Whitehouse security was superb. and thats really just the tip of the iceberg...there are so many great action scenes in this movie it is just impossible to write about them all. but this is a character driven stuff as well, far more so than the first film, which was little more than a very interesting Prologue(8/10 for it still though, i loved it). and boy what charcters Hugh jackman has literally plucked Wolverine out of the comics and brought him to life. he is amazng in the role, bringing a softer touch inbetween the berzerker rages. James Marsden got to do a little more with Cyclops...we got a little more emotion this time which was good. disappeared from the film for abotu an hour though Famke Janssen did a brilliant jobbie as jean gray while looking hot. Halle Berry as storm lost the shitty accent from the first film, and was a lot more convincing this time. ohh the list goes on. but special mentions to Alan Cumming for portraying Nightcrawler as both tough, yet loveably funny, and Brian Cox for being a throughly menacing villians. i dare say i dont need to say that Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellan were amazing? i didnt need to see that....cause you know its true. characters action and its all beautifully directed by Singer....i would recommend this to just about anyone. the perfect summer blockbuster 9/10 |
