What a great improvement over the so-so original (7/10). I really can't believe anyone is disappointed with X2. Oh BTW, I refuse to call it X-Men United, seeing as Bryan Singer is so adamant that it's just X2, and the opening of the movie just says X2. Anyway, this movie was so much better than the first one in many ways. There was tons more character development, emotional draw, and the plot was just plain better. X-Men suffered from being the first film in a huge universe of mythology and characters. The plot seemed small and unimportant. In X2, the plot is so much more epic, and we get this feeling of "Oh this is huge and it's only just beginning. And for anyone who has at least some knowledge of the X-Men universe, we know what's coming next, and boy, I can't wait. I also thought the acting was better in this one. Halle Berry really has gotten better since she won an Oscar I guess, because she was good. Famke Jansen is also really good--better than I've ever seen her. Jackman and Marsden also get a chance to show some real acting chops, unlike in the first one. The action in the movie was really good, with alot of it really blowing me away to some degree and none of it seeming generic. Singer has done a good job pacing the 2+ hour film. It never drags and it's just the right length. You are really satisfied and kept on the edge of your seat the whole time and when it's over you can't wait for the next X-Men movie. I strongly recommend this great comic adaptation. I loved it and have already seen it twice. X2: (9/10) X-Men: (7/10) Daredevil: (10/10) Spiderman: (9/10) Batman: (8/10) |
