Her mushy world is shattered, however, when a policman is hit and killed in a mysterious car accident, the assailant flees the scene and Zoe is unfairly left facing a vehicular homicide charge. While awaiting trial, Zoe is confined to house arrest, where she alternates falling in love with her frequent visitor and parole officer, Daly, and trying to prove her innocence to regain her life and freedom. MPAA Rating: R for language. Genre: Drama/Comedy/Thriller Runtime: 1 hr. 40 min. Starring: Robin Tunney, Tim Blake Nelson, Nora Dunn, Jason Priestley, Brad Hunt Directed by: Finn Taylor Produced by: Johnny Wow, Mark Burton Written by: Finn Taylor Distributor: Fine Line Features My Review: CHERISH (2002) "Cherish" is one of the most little-seen movies of the year, which is really too bad because it is quite an interesting little film. Not to say that it doesn't have its flaws, but the movie is so charming and entertaining that they are easily forgivable. Robin Tunney is fun and likable as Zoe. I really enjoyed her performance. The chemistry between her and Tim Blake Nelson is good and believable. I found both to be engaging. I really enjoyed "Cherish." I didn't even mind the last 20 minutes or so when it made the transition to a thriller, in fact, I found it to be a fun change. Being a fan of 80's music, I loved the soundtrack and it even helped give the movie an 80's movie feel. "Cherish" may not be perfect, but it's fun, quirky, charming, original, and very enjoyable. Grade: 7/10 or B or ***1/2 of ***** |
