That is the character of Delilah. Her feistiness and spontaneity were enjoyable to watch, and it is a shame that she was limited to such a small amount of screen-time, as she was a lot more watchable and entertaining than the rest of the boring characters. --The film contains one memorably well-written scene. It is appropriately the final scene of the film, in which Cat and her mother just talk about everything that has happened over the events of the film (not much) and their regrets and true feelings are let out. Their characters are best written there and the acting is at its peak. Too little, too late. THE BAD: --I must complain about the title. In addition to being very boring, the title also has pretty much nothing to do with the movie. Cat isn't even a 'tart' or 'slut' in any kind of way. And how lame would it be to have the title referring to one of the secondary characters? Pretty damn lame methinks. --What was actually the story of this film? Oh, wait, I know! To watch a bunch of rich, good-looking teens walking around, taking drugs, being rebellious and going to parties. Oh, and there's a predictable murder at the end. This so-called plot gets tired very, very fast and the drugs in the film were way overused. It served the plot in no way for every scene to involve a character sniffing something. But then again, there wasn't a plot in the first place. --I found it hard to care for the characters, who are all very boring and underdeveloped, with the exception of Delilah. Dominique Swain is good as Cat, but what a shame the character is so boring and does nothing but sit in the background brooding for most of the movie. Brad Renfro also does the best he can but his character changes so frequently, much the same with that annoying British chick (Delilah was right when she said she looked like she was six), the Peg girl and many of the annoying background characters. Lacey Chabert I love, but she cannot save the film, or her role unfortunately. --Goddamnit, I just found this movie damn BORING! Just wrap this crap up already! Why would anyone even want to release something this dull on VIDEO? There were slight moments of entertainment to be had, but this is definitely not the sassy, sexy teen flick I was expecting (a film in the same vain as "Cruel Intentions") but it's more like a wannabe-Oscar drama. At least throw in some sex and hot chicks to spice up the movie - stop trying to make a tearjerker! It just doesn't work! RATING: 3/10 - A film that is a lot like its title: boring, bland and unappealing. IF YOU LIKED THIS MOVIE I RECOMMEND: Boogie Nights (10/10) Christina's House (2/10) Cruel Intentions (8/10) Cruel Intentions 2 (2/10) Girl, Interrupted (8/10) |
