I enjoyed the origina movie for one main reason. The interaction between Smith and Lawrence was dead on. They played off each other very well. In this one, they seemed distant amd didnt click too often. Will Smith played the ulta cool, high styling cop while Martin Lawrence had issues from the start, he was upset with Will and was leaving him as a partner. So when they had to work together and coexist, something was just off. I cant understand how Lawrence could go off about not liking his pertner to the two of them hamming it up together as they berate his daughters new date, in a scene that had me rolling on the floor no less. The plot is obvious so Ill skip that. The action sequences, while seemingly "mundane" in action movies now was interesting. They sure threw in a new twist with having a dead body barrage. Which was another moment that I laughed like crazy at. I guess thats the best thing in this movie for me, the humor. Witness two rats having a "go" at it to which Lawrence replies "they F*** like us!" I also found myself endulging in the over the top "ultra violence" Im a horror nut so none of that bothered me. Overall, the movie lacked the great chemestry between the lwo leads that was the first movies strenght, but replaced it with an over styled, ulta violent, laugh fest with your typical bad guys and police chiefs. When the dust settles Ill give this movie an 8/10...for reasons Im still not sure about. |
