THE GOOD:I had such a good time watching this movie,this is what summer movies are all about.First off i must give praise to director Michael Bay for listening to the fans,and providing a funny,action packed film!Some action sequences in this film are so insane you dont know if you should laugh nervously at the insanity of it all or howl with delight.But what really made me howl is the comedic talent of Martin Lawrence,his standout scene being when he has a mini-nervous breakdown after an intense gun fight within the home of a haitian gang,when he sits down and starts talking to the lifeless bodies i laughed so hard i missed some of the lines that followed.Give Lawrence the right script and his own ad-libs and watch this man soar.Will Smith is right there with him, especially in the date interrogation scene.His suave,playboy, andrenaline filled character is the perfect match for the more grounded ,family man Lawrence they worked well together,and i felt more attached to the characters this time around. In the first film their constant bickering was annoying because it seemed thats all there was.But not this time around,especially after Marcus(lawrence) finds out a secret Mike (smith) has been keeping from him.That scene was pretty intense i could actually see Lawrence's nostrils flare!!! Im finally starting to except Gabrielle Union as a mature actress,i dont know after watching her in teenage flics like the cheerleader comedy Bring it On i couldnt buy her as a mature woman(but maybe it has something to do with my own little cheerleader fantasy about me and Gabrielle on a beach in jam.......)uhhmm well she gets the job done i loved her tough sexy approach to the role. THE BAD:I wanted to see more of Theresa Randle it felt like she just had a cameo this time around.Jordi Mollà plays the same double crossing, swarmy character he played in the movie Blow,not much of a stretch there.Of course with the whole Cuba sequence you have to throw all believability out the window and enjoy the ride.I wont give anything away but certain things would have never went down in Cuba the way the did in this movie. IN THE END: A funny,action packed roller coaster ride. Terminator 3 the biggest dissapointment this summer in my opinion,can take a lesson from this movie.I hope there is a Bad Boys 3 but guys please dont wait 8 years to make it.Scale of 1-10 8 1/2 P.S : I hope Angelina Jolie and Director Jan de Bont's Tomb Raider 2 excels past the original too. |
