This movie is not a masterpiece by any means, it's not even that great. But you know what, it's not that horrible either. I mean sure, it's corney as hell, but it was supposed to be. So what did I like about this movie: 1. The Spice Girls are just so damn cute in this movie, especially Emma and Geri. Oh No!
I know their names... 2. The music is kind of fun. 3. It was sort of funny in a goofy "I-can't- believe-I'm-laughing-at-this" way. What didn't I like about this movie: 1. Sometimes it was a little too goofy. 2. Some of the attempts at humor failed miserably. 3. It was too corney. If you can stop being critical for 93 minutes, you just might enjoy this movie. If you are out to hate it, you probably will. So it all depends on how you look at it. I for one thought it was an ok movie, not that great, but not horrible either. And even if any of you guys or even I didn't like this movie, that's ok, because it's not exactly meant for people of our age. My niece is eight years old and she loved it. And I'm sure if I was an eight year old girl I would've loved it too. One word describes this movie, and that word is cute. This movie is part brainless fun and part just plain brainless. Although it's not exactly my kind of movie, in fact it's far from it, I still thought it was ok, I've seen a lot worse. Of course it was no Josie And The Pussycats (8/10), which despite all it's flaws was a lot of fun with cool music and hot girls.
But somehow Spice World managed to be an ok flick. It's not good enough to be a guilty pleasure, and it isn't good enough to really be anything. But the girls looked cute. And yes, I am ashamed to say that I thought this movie was ok. Please don't kill me. Grade: 5/10 (3 points for the cute girls, and 2 points for the fun music)... By the way, Alan Cumming must love girl band movies, after appearing in both this movie and Josie And The Pussycats... |
