THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN (2003) “The League of Extraordinary Boredom” would be a more appropriate title. I wish I would have believed some of the people that said this movie was really boring, but instead, I listened to the few people that said it was really fun if you leave your brain at the door. After seeing it, I can’t imagine what the people that said it was really fun were smoking. I can’t believe how hard it was to endure this movie. If you would have asked me at the 45 minute mark what was going on in the movie, the best answer I could have given would have been “They’re going somewhere to do something.” I checked a few times during the movie to see how much time was left, and after checking again at around the 45 minute mark and seeing that it still had an hour or better left, I decided to just fast forward through it. This rarely happens to me. Usually, no matter how bored I am, I like to watch a movie all the way through. But with this one, I just couldn’t take anymore. I wanted the pain to go away. I knew if I didn’t do this, I would have fallen asleep soon due to extreme boredom. I can’t help but feel that this movie deserved to get the horrible buzz that Gigli undeservedly got. That movie was nowhere near as bad as it was made out to be. This movie, on the other hand, was torture. At the moment, it stands as the worst movie of the year on my list, and I can’t imagine another movie beating it. In fact, my 2/10 (F) rating seems kind of generous. What’s stopping me from giving it a 1/10 (F)? I mean, I hardly ever give out that rating, pretty much never, since usually every movie has SOMETHING good about it and isn’t horrible enough to receive the worst rating possible. Yet, I can’t even think of one thing I liked about this movie. Not even one little thing. I didn’t like anything about it. But, I still won’t give it the 1/10 (F) rating. It probably deserves it, but that’s not a rating I just throw around and give to just any movie. Overall, I highly recommend not joining this league. I didn’t listen to any of the people saying how boring it was, so I don’t expect anything I say to stop others from renting it. But if you do, you can’t say you weren’t warned. Grade: 2/10 (F)
