My review of THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN IN SHORT: I found myself intrigued by the league THE GOOD:I must admit i have never read the comic book,in which the idea for this film originated.I had heard of it in passing , legendary,literary characters come together to stop a great evil.And that was one of the fun things about the film,Sean Connery as Allan Quatermain the hunter and adventurer,Connery is his usual charming self,i loved his one liners and quick wit.Naseeruddin Shah as Captain Nemo wow i never new Nemo was such a great swordsman/fighter!!Peta Wilson as the vampiress Mina Harker,She is still as engaging and hypnotically beautiful as she was on the t.v version of La Femme Nikita.Her scenes with Stuart Townsend as the fearless immortal Dorian Gray were fantastic.Speaking of Townsend he does a great job as Gray who's only fear it seems is the aging potrait of himself. Shane West as Tom Sawyer i liked the cockiness of the now U.S secret agent but i also loved the bonding between him and Connery. Tony Curran as Rodney Skinner (The Invisible Man) added a lot of humor to the mix and was fun to watch well what we can see of him .HA HA.Jason Flemyng as Dr. Henry Jekyll aka Mr. Edward Hyde was fun also,i liked how his character and others had to still deal with their inner demons and various skeletons in their closets. THE BAD:Ok the special effects should have been sharper for such a major movie.And you can tell some scenes were left on the cutting room floor some in which you see in trailers or making of specials but not in the film.I detest that!!Some characters walk away from accidents they should not have.I know we have to suspend disbelief but come on!!And i feel the villains are revealed to quickly for my taste.And how did Sawyer know how to drive Nemo's car so well?!? IN THE END:A fun way to kill two hours,great characters,great action oh and did i mention fun?The fact that im hoping for a sequel says a lot .Scale of 1-10 a 71/2 I liked this better than T3 which should have been better.
