Seriously I don't really know why Sean Connery was picked for this part, anyone else could have played it, even, better!! Isn't it time for him to retire? or stick to movies like FIDDING FORESTER. The story was of course based on a comic book, so it's practically like all comics, some masked and mysterious guy wants to rule over the world. Then we find out there is a traitor and the masked guy is in fact someone from the organization who wants to take something from the heroes. Even though the story about the characters was well enough built, I did find some facts that don't really correspond to the literary version of the character... -Mr. Hyde is actually an evil normal man not a monster -Nemo is French not Pakistani ...and some movie errors for instance: -during the fight at Dorian's house, some baddie rips off Dorian's shirt, the next second we see him perfectly normal, in the same shirt. -in the beginning of the Mina vs. Dorian fight, Mina had curly hair, when she wakes up from Dorian's bed, her hair is straight !! I also agree with JoBlo about the fact that we feel like some parts of the movie between the fight scenes are missing. I personally think that the movie was divided into 2 parts. The 1st one Venice and 2nd is Mongolia, it goes from the beginning to the end way to fast. Without forgetting that it has a weak and predictable ending, the final scene in Kenya isn't really well pictured, we could have at least seen his arm coming out of the sand or something in that genre. Plus, we don't feel like caring much about the characters, we care a bit about Dr Jekyll, we can well see that he is suffering but then about the whole story with Quatermain's son, we can't feel nothing for him because of his constant arrogance. The CGI wasn't so bad, Mr. Hyde looked a little bit "plastic" but we can see he is computerized however in the end we forget all about that and enjoy his little fights. As a final result, the movie is very comic book styled which gives it a disadvantage but is still a fun movie which right after watching you forget about it. My score is 7/10 |
