Wrong Turn - 8/10 Wrong Turn is fast-paced, scary and full of gore. Is it a movie your grandma would like? Probably not. Is it something horror fans should lap up? Oh yeah! Desmond Harrington gives a solid performance as medical student Chris. He's likeable and believable and I was rooting for him the whole time. Hottie Eliza Dushku gives a decent enough performance althoug her character is rather underdeveloped. The rest of the cast including Jeremy Sisto do good jobs playing their respective roles although no one is great, it's pretty well-acted for a horror movie. Clearly a fan of the genre, director Rob Schmidt knows for a movie like this too work you need three things; Blood, guts and suspense...so he delivers all three in spades. Gorehounds will love what this baby has too offer. We get too see axes, barbed wire, shotguns and arrows used to there fullest bloody potential. Although the movie's style is kept rather simple most of the time, Schmidt throws in some lovely David Fincher-esque shots once in a while and they were appreciated by yours truly. The pace is tight, the kills were cool and the suspense is laid on thick...an overall excellent job behind the camera. If you don't mind some gruesome gore then you might want to check out this throwback to the "hillbillies chasing the kiddies" movies of the 70's that throws in just enough style, gore and suspense (and shots of Eliza Dusku running) to make the whole thing feel fresh. It's does have a few plot-holes though (wouldn't police go looking for all those missing people?) and it features your standard scenarious but hey, what do you expect? It's nothing more then a bloody good time that's perfect for late-night viewing.
