Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle doesn't pretend to be brilliant filmmaking, nor does it take itself seriously. The movie is just that, a movie. It is fun popcorn that'll take you on a ride right from the beginning until the very end. There are some disposable villains, but who really cares when you have all of those amazing action scenes. The three angels are all in top form here. Cameron Diaz makes Nat just as ditzy, lovable and "fluffy" as she was in the first one, although she wasn't very "fluffy" during her "butch" scene with that mullet. Drew Barrymore takes Dylan to new places in this movie, she is much more developed here than in the original, and I'm glad, she's probably my favorite angel. Her backstory was funny/cute and sad at the same time and yet believable. Lucy Lui, my least favorite of the three, actually got me to like her in this one. Sure, she's still a bitch, but a funny one. I especially loved the running joke with her dad, which I won't say anything about it. Most of the new characters were underused. Demi Moore was pretty good as Madison Lee, but she was really given nothing to do until the last half an hour. She gave a pretty good performance, but didn't really have to try very hard to pull it off. Jason Patrick who was introduced early in the movie really had no purpose but to reintroduce Demi Moore later in the movie. Bernie Mac was pretty good as the new Bosley, but most of his humor was hit-and-miss. I liked all the cameos, especially the "future angels" one during Dylan's visions. And is it just me, or did Pink looked stoned during her scene? When making this sequel, the filmmakers knew to take everything that worked from the original, and make it bigger and better. For example, the original's opening had the angels get a bomb out of a plane by skydiving and landing in a boat. This one has the angels rescue a hostage from "50 armed men," highjack a truck, drive the truck off of a dam to avoid a missile, and fly the helicopter off of the back of the truck (still while falling) with two of the angels grabbing on to the helicopter. The only problem with the bigger action scenes is that the CGI was pretty noticeable, a lot. "I know the angels weren't that gummy before they starting flying!" Ah yes, the "flying" scene, another tiny thing I didn't like. When did Demi Moore suddenly become Batman? The "plot" really shouldn't be analyzed because there was no real plot. It was just the girls disguised in an extreme situation finding some evidence for them to use to get into new disguises in another extreme situation, with the occasional ass kicking. I didn't come in looking for an Oscar worthy plot that would really make me think, I came in looking for some pretty cool action scenes, some over-the-top disguises, and some occasional humor, all three of my wishes were met.
