For a movie that had predictable thrills, unoriginal storyline, and some of the campiest dialogue I've ever seen, this movie was freakin scary and fun! Gothika is a very interesting movie with a great horror atmosphere. I am a horror movie buff and I don't get scared very easily, but this movie got to me, there were parts when I actually wanted to close my eyes. I could see why critics didn't like it because it gives you some real cheap shots. It had the classic bird flying out of a door as she opens it; it gets me everytime. It also seemed very awkward at times. I could see that the makers wanted to have some comic relief in this dark tale, but it seemed so out of place. The awkward moments didn't really bother me a whole lot, it was the end that I was dissapointed in. I was waiting in such anticipation for this awesome ending, but it never came. It was just a ghost-getting-revenge ending like you've seen in What Lies Beneath. I could see that the makers were trying to put some symbolism into it to make it different from What Lies Beneath, but it just didn't work. Overall it was a fun movie that I don't regret seeing at all and I strongly recommend it to someone who hasn't seen The Sixth Sense or What Lies Beneath because Gothika is basically a combination of the two with little twists. Gothika- 7/10
