I just saw the new Star Wars movie. Ho hum. There was way too much yackity yack going on in this movie for my taste. Parts of the movie were downright boring. Blah, blah, <insert some political statement here>, blah, freakin' blah. Repeat a few dozen times. <Snore> I liked the skyscraper chase scene in the beginning.....even though it looked like a computer game. I also liked the gladiator scene (and the other action scenes that followed) at the end of the movie. However the other 90 minutes of the movie made me struggle from going asleep. Hayden Christensen looked like he delivered some of his lines at gunpoint. Pull the sting on his back and watch him talk. He was more of a hand puppet than Yoda was in previous episodes. I wanted to reach into the screen and slap his character around. Natalie Portman is hot, (nice costume in the gladiator scene), but I didn't buy the whole love story between her and the older, but still bratty, Anakin. I guess Luke has to be born some how, so there you have it. Ewan McGregor does very well with his part. I won't even go down the Samuel L. Jackson or the Jimmy Smits road to the cheese factory. Thankfully, JarJar had minimal screen time. I was also irritated by C-3PO, but I have always hated that character and his equally gay sidekick. Yoda's flight scene was interesting. He's pretty limber for a creature that has trouble walking. There was a lot of the plot that I didn't understand (despite the endless dialog). I would have to see the movie again to catch the portions of the plot that I missed the first time......but I won't be doing that any time soon. Not until it comes on video and I have had sufficient sleep beforehand. The mother dying scene could have been done better and some of the huge plot holes could have been patched with a better-written script. So, I say......6/10.
