Solid addition to the Star Wars universe. A bounce-back from Episode one that still can be quibbled over- it's best to just let go, though, and enjoy the visual feast. Viewing this film was a rare occasion for me to hear a theater just go ape-shit....clapping, cheering, and celebration. To me that is the mark of an enjoyable if not good film. The special effects seemed more integrated this time- less Jar Jar and more background CGI. It worked. I still miss monster suits and such but I've given up on seeing them as the main feature in Star Wars films from here on out. The action scenes were well done- the climactic jedi battle in the arena is simply fantastic. We still get humor mixed into the final battle (C-3PO) but this time it works instead of fucking Jar-Jar. The acting was solid all around except for Boba Fett. I think that has more to do with the script in those occasions, though. The dialogue was stilted and often just awkward. I think too much time was spent on effects and not enough attention to the spoken word. Very few memorable quotes and some scenes played out like a ten year old had written them. Good use of music to foreshadow Anakin's eventual turn to the dark side. We also get George Lucas's embracing of sexuality. Thong ladies in the Coruscant bar and Natalie Portman looking scrumptious in her white outfit. Overall this film is truly enjoyable for the Star Wars fan. A lot of questions are answered and more arise....leaving you in dire need to see Episode III. What's even better is that this film was more fun the second time around!
