| I'm not going to give a long review, I just want to say that I am not a fantasy film fanatic as ALL. In fact, I hate most films of the genre. But Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship does not disappoint! Everything was top notch: Dialogue, script, cinematography, story, etc. The characters were very well developed and the actors play their characters down to the bone. The two performances that stood out to the most were those of Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Ian McKellen (Gandalf). The excellent Sir Ian McKellen gives one of his best performances to date, the second best male supporting performance of 2001. And as for Elijah Wood, the former child actor who shined movies such as Paradies, Radio Flyer, and The Ice Storm is absolutely perfect as the role of Frodo. Yes, the facial expressions are very real and you can feel that when you see him 'act', it won't even feel like acting. The dude IS Frodo. The whole movie is one big journey. After all, this is the first part. The cinematic landskapes and scenery help make the movie as do the brilliant direction of Peter Jackson. A few people may find this film boring, but I didn't, at all. Every bit was entertaining. So fasten your seat belts, ladies and gentleman, it's going to be one exciting ride. GRADE: 10/10 (best movie of the 2000's) TWO TOWERS GRADE: 8/10 |
