well, what can i say? the long awaited fellowship of the ring has finally come out on the big screen. not being much of a reader, i didn't really feel it necessary to read the books before i saw the movie. just because of that, don't stop reading this review. i may not like books, but i sure not my shit when it comes to movies. anyways, i thought that this movie was great. when i got out of the theater, i thought that i had just scene the workings of god(gerald) put on the big screen. i thought that the entire movie was great, and it was one of the best that i had ever seen. i was shocked, to discover that many people that i attend school with did not like this movie. first of all, i would like to star of by saying that these people have no sense at all of what a good movie is, and to stretch the slink a little more, they should be shot. i think that the acting in this movie was superb. i was immensly impressed by the acting of viggo mortensen, in his role as aarigorn. he did a tremendous job capturing the seriousness of his character, and the role that he plays in the trilogy. also, i thought that orlando bloom was the perfect person to play legolas, the elven archer. in the view times that he spoke, he was great. the best acting in the movie however, was by the guy that played gimli the dwarf. i'm not quite sure on his name, but he did the best job out of anyone by far. i thinkt that anyone who thought that elijah wood did a good job, is right in one sense, but entirely wrong on the other. I thought that he did a good job as frodo in the sense that he knew how to react to knew and strange things that hobbits of his kind aren'y used to, but i don't think that he did a good job on other thingsd. for instance, i believe that frodo had a lot more things bothering him throughout the movie than the specific acting than wood's part portrayed. okay, i think that my first paragraph is long enough. i'm almost done, but i wanted to say a couple more things. first off, i wanted to say that ian mckellen did a wonderful job showing gandalf's dark and angered side, aswell as his cheerful, happy fgo lucky side. he did a superb job with his role aswell. also, the cinematography in this film was outstanding.
in the end, i have to say that this was one of my favorite movies of 2001, if not of all time. even though it lasted for approximately 3 hours, i think that it is a great film. i give this movioe a 10/10, and i reccommend it to anyone that enjoys movies with a good plot and golod acting. if tyou are like the people at my school, and don't like movies that need some thought, don't see it. it will probably be too deep and meaningful for your pathetic and puny mind anyways. |
