I think people are making this movie out to be better than it actually was. Sure, it was great, but it wasn't a classic. It was too long and dragged in several scenes. But on the bright side, you get Ian McKellen's Oscar worthy performance, the great SFX, the story, the great character development, and so on. The Mines of Moira was a classic scene, as were several others. Keep in mind that I have not read the book so my opinions may differ from those who have. But the movie ends abruptly leaving you wanting more, which is not a good thing in this case. Overall, I would give it a 8.5/10.
