| Insomnia (2002) Directed by Christopher Nolan Starring Al Pachino, Hillary Swank, Robin Williams, Maura Tierney, and Jonathan Jackson Rating: 9/10 I finally got to see Insomnia, which I missed in the theatres. I liked it a lot. Christopher Nolan's follow-up to Memento is a well done crime-thriller and it's strong points are it's unconventional, very well developed characters, all of which are portrayed superbly by the oscar caliber cast. The story is also very riveting as Pachino's Det. Dormer struggles with internal and external conflict all while dealing with his insomnia, meanwhile Swank's character tries to follow in quasi-mentor Dormer's footsteps. The movie has moments of intense action, suspense, and true emotion, and the way everything comes together in the end made the film all the more interesting. Overall, it is an intelligent thriller with many layers and among the year's best films. |
