| Cold Mountain - ***1/2 or (7/10) Well, after putting it off for months I finally saw one of the most Oscar-buzzed movies of 2003....and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. With all the mixed reviews I read, I expected an average movie. The acting was terrific, Jude Law and Renee Zellweger both deserve praise(and Renee should already have her Oscar speech prepared). My only real problem with it was the unneeded "Hey, you know who I am? Look at me! Look at me!" cameos. Wait for the part where we're introduced to Georgia, a deserter played by Jack White(of The White Stripes). Not only does the camera linger on him too much, they LET HIM SING LONGER THAN ANYONE ELSE TO DRIVE HOME THE POINT. Oh well, I'll buy it on DVD regardless. |
