The movie is only enjoyable when the both Jude Law and Nicole Kidman are apart because it is unbearable to watch them when they are together. There was absolutely no chemistry between the two. It was like watching Keanu Reeves in Much Ado About Nothing. The film only picked up when all the secondary characters appeared such as Renee Zellewegger(?), Philip Seymour Hoffman, Giovanni Ribisi, and Natalie Portman. These characters drove the film. Without them this film could've arguably as bad as Gods and Generals... wait. Nothing is as bad as Gods and Generals. But overall the film was somewhat enjoyable and it seemed that the story of the two lovers separated was only there as a tour bus to showcase the rugged and harsh life of the South during that terrible time. Which was actually interesting. If to see the film for any reason see it for that one because Cold Mountain does not deserve any nominations for Best Picture, Actor or Actress. If any nominations should be given to the film it should go to the amzing supporting cast. Without them this film would've been the film Virus.
