XXX (2002) Rated PG-13 for Non-Stop Action Sequences, Violence, Drug Content, Sensuality, and Language Director: Rob Cohen Starring Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, Asia Argento, and Marton Csokas. Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) is a pure adrenaline junkie with a really bad attitude. When the U.S. government recruits him to become a secret agent, he is nowhere near being thrilled. His mission is to try to stop Yorgi (Marton Csokas), a Russian psycho who plans on destroying the world. I don't know about anybody else, but when I think of the name Vin Diesel, I immediately think of an action star. And that is what Vin Diesel is starting to become... an action star. In his latest film, "XXX", Diesel is given much more room to show off a little bit of his personality, unlike in his other films such as "Pitch Black" or "The Fast and the Furious". Diesel is witty, sarcastic, funny, and pulls off several cheesy lines perfectly in this flick. Also, to my surprise, Diesel shares some very good chemistry with the great Samuel L. Jackson. Not once did I feel like Jackson was being wasted, his time on the screen is short, but his scenes with Diesel were somewhat memorable. "XXX" is not really a movie for everybody. If you are unwilling to shut your brain off for a couple of hours and enjoy yourself, you should stay far away from this flick. As for me, I thought "XXX" was great fun, highly entertaining, and definitely one of the best action flicks of the year. Yes, the movie's stupid and cheesy, but it still manages to show you a great time. "XXX" is kinda like watching a James Bond movie, but with all the class and sophistication thrown right out the window. Running Time: 2 hours 1 minute Grade: 8/10 Strider [This message has been edited by Strider (edited 08-13-2002).]
