I didn't know what to think of Dark City at first, but once I thought about it I realized that I had watched a very entertaining movie! It really made you think and try to figure out what was going on along with the main character. When he was confused, we were confused. A lot of movies don't do that quite like this movie does. Either the main character knows whats going on and we don't, or we know whats going on and the main character doesn't so I was really impressed on how they told the story. I did feel that they used very stereotypical characters: the confused protagonist, the truth seeking cop, The Strangers who look strangely familiar, and the most evident one of all; the mad scientist. These characters make Dark City unbelievable and in a sci-fi picture you need to try to make it as believable as possible, otherwise it falls flat. The story and the special effects keep it from falling flat. The FX were awesome for a 1998 film. The end battle reminded me of The Matrix Revolutions, Neo vs. Smith fight and it didn't look fake at all! So overall the story and FX were incredible, but the sterotypical characters keep Dark City from being excellent. Dark City- 8/10
