I wasn't expecting much from The Ring, considering all the trash that Hollywood pumps out, but this movie is high class on the creepy side. You really have to think about everything you see and hear during this movie. Otherwise, you will wonder what the hell is going on. I intend to see The Ring more than once, so I can catch things that I missed the first time around. Naomi Watts did well with her part and I liked her character, but she's not the greatest actress in the world, so she could use some work. I don't think we can honestly compare her to Nicole Kidman (at this point anyway). Martin Henderson was OK, but his character wasn't as memorable as it should have been. The kid was annoying and creepy. Maybe that was the point, but his actions seemed a little "off" to me. I didn't like the chemistry between most of the actors, especially between the kid and Naomi Watts. They seemed more like “little brother and big sister” than “son and mom.” Overall, The Ring stands out from other movies of this type. Now, I have to see the original to compare the two. I say........9/10. |
