8/10 Before I go any further, the first 10 minutes of this film was absolutely horrible and was something out of the modern teen slasher movies that I can't stand. Unfortunately, this horrible beginning sat in my stomach for the next 45 minutes and made me wonder if the film was going to be able to redeem itself. Guess what: it did. This movie was suspensful, very unnerving, very original(for the japanese guy who came up with it), very well directed, well edited, had an awesome score, and was overrall a great movie IF they changed that damn beginning, but it got much much better. A lot have people have been comparing this to THE EXCORSIST(9/10), which was absolutely nothing like this movie except worthy to compare. It had the exact same kind of suspense. I felt the same exact fear I felt when I watched the Excorsist for the first time. The only difference in the Excorsist, they build the suspense more and more until boom they hit you hard in the face, The Ring did the exact same thing, except it did over and over again. The people who said this movie was too slow don't know what this film was trying to create. It definetley mastered that suspence. Soon I will see the oringinal and compare the two, but the Ring wil hopefull go down in history as one of the most original horror movie. unfortunate for that goddamn beginning though.
