DONNIE DARKO 10/10 Donnie Darko was one of the most original movies I have ever seen, and as far as being in the "mindfuck" genre with such movies as Vanilla Sky, Mullholland Drive, and The Lost Highway, Donnie Darko stnads out because of its humor. Not only was the movie quite clever but it had some of the funniest stuff in a movie in a long while, the conversation about the sex lives of Smurfs was classic. The movie being set in the late 80's gave it an interesting feel, the 80's is an era not touched into that much which is a shame, Donnie Darko makes good use of the time period with clever remarks about Dukakis, and great music. As far as story peicing it together is a little difficult buit fun to try, it is more linear and mazkes more sense than other films like Mullholland Drive and The Lost Highway, but it is more clever than Vanilla Sky or even Memento. For anyone who is a fan of these mind bending flicks they should definatley check it out. [This message has been edited by sloopyfan (edited 03-11-2002).]
