I'll cut the crap, and just get to my thoughts: Spoilers!... Terminator 3 is a 7/10. It is slightly more than an average blockbuster, but it's just as I thought - A crash bang science fiction film. The opening of the film is grand. I liked the way Connor was introduced (the bridge scene where he drops the bottle into the river was the second best scene of the film). I was impressed with Anhuld. He's a legend, and he plays this role so well. So well indeed. The rest of the cast is fine - Babe robot is good, but not that good. Robert Patrick was far superior. Nick Stahl was a great choice for Connor, playing him with real devotion, filling the character in very well. Mostow's direction was good enough I thought. He handled the action scenes very well indeed. I was actually surprised by the ferocity of the action. Great stuff. There was also a surprising emotion in this film, which we must owe to Mostow. It was a pleasant surprise. Cinematography was bland, which is disappointing when this is what made T1 and T2 (especially) stand-out so much. The score was shite on a stick, apart from one or two segments. Fiedel's score was severely missed, and much needed. Why, why why, when you know you can't make a stronger score, do you exclude it? It makes no sense. The effects/action? Well, I thought the car/truck chase scene was very impresseive, more so than in Reloaded. Yawn, another comparison, but, fuck it, it was more impressive. The toilet fight was also shocking in terms of the sheer strength of the cyborgs. A brilliant action set-piece. The effects were outstanding, especially Arnie's half Terminator, half human effect. And we come to THAT ending. Wow. Surprisingly effecting, and thoroughly satisfying. One of the best endings I ever seen a film have. Loved the ash-filled sequence of the Terminator's head lying, the light in its eye slowly dimming. Overall: Satisfying, typical (apart from the ending), but a solid effort.
