Excellent movie that adds a little of T1 & T2 into its flow, but also has enough of its own stuff that makes it an awesome sequel. Arnold is back as the Terminator, but this time is without most of his previous cohorts like Edward Furlong, Linda Hamilton, and most importantly James Cameron. But who needs 'em? This movie rocks. The plot is basically the same as the previous one, two Terminators sent back in time: one to kill John Connor, the other to prevent that from happening. But this time, Arnold is up against a female terminator (a hot one at that) and she's more powerful than his last nemesis. She also does have an added mission though which provides for a nice twist - but its soon forgotten (for the most part anyway) for obvious reasons. Arnold is as good as ever as the cyborg. Although it appears that this role would be easy for any actor, I'm not that convinced it's that simple. Showing no emotion AT ALL while trying to carry the movie! Just doesn't seem that easy. He does it well though! Since he plays another terminator in this one, don't expect some of the stuff he "learned" in T2. Apparently he did pick up a psychology degree though. His costar, the beautiful Kristanna Loken, also does a kickass job as the more powerful successor of Robert Patrick (in T2, people). I was also most impressed by Nick Stahl as the adult John Connor. He didn't do anything over the top (like I thought Edward Furlong did for some of T2) and played this destined leader who's basically scared of the future quite well. I sensed a small Oedipal complex thing though with the character. Claire Danes basically is there to replace Linda Hamilton. She doesn't play a psycho or anything and follows through as only Claire Danes can. The pace of the movie is spectacular. I credit the new director Jonathan Mostow with that. T3 has kickass action sequences, chase scenes, special effects, plot & character development, and suprisingly some laughs provided by the big guy himself. His oddness as a cyborg makes for more laughs. And the writing is top notch as well with a few suprises as far as the terminators' missions are concerned and the movie's take on fate, coincidences, the future, and other subplots. The only thing about the movie is is that it's not James Cameron's flick. He added a lot of great touches to the first two ones and that touch is missing in this one. Mostow was obviously a great idea for its director. This movie is not as good as T2 (basically because of the new special FX, ideas, & main plot - again which is basically the same as T3), but it does stand alone and is a kickass addition to the Terminator series. Not to forget it's a kickass popcorn movie. 8/10
